The so-called “chilled water” system is a cooling production method that uses water to distribute the cold to the indoor units from a refrigeration unit. Its use relates more particularly to large installations where DRV type direct expansion systems find their limits. The advantage of chilled water is that the coolant (water) is safe and easy to handle, unlike the refrigerants in an RVD air conditioning system.

Use of Water chillers

Chillers are used wherever it is necessary to restrict the use of refrigerants, whether for technical or ecological reasons.

These systems can therefore be found in the residential sector, as well as in the tertiary sector or the industrial sector:

  • In a hotel, air conditioning a room with a chilled water system avoids the need for emergency ventilation and refrigerant detector since the indoor unit will be free of refrigerant.
  • In the tertiary sector, for example, it is much simpler for technical reasons to distribute chilled water in a multi-story building than to distribute refrigerant.
  • In the residential sector, water chillers have the advantage of confining the quantities of refrigerant. This advantage can make it possible to dispense with the obligation of periodic leak testing, for example.

Advantages

The source, where the calories are taken or transferred, is water: tower water, air coolers, groundwater, etc.

The advantage of “water” compared to “air” is found in its thermal capacity and efficiency or EER (Energy Efficiency in Refrigeration), better and less sensitive to external temperature conditions. On the use side, as for the “air/water” group, the “water/water” group transfers its energy to a chilled water network conveyed to the transmitters.

  • Better efficiency, better yields (EER), better-operating results
  • Installation of refrigeration machines in technical rooms, basements, etc.

Better Energy Efficiency

Water chiller systems offer better energy efficiency than small systems. The initial investment seems expensive but this equipment saves money when it comes to energy consumption and longevity. In this sense, they provide a good return on investment in a quick time.

Huge buildings demand a significant amount of cooling which can be easily fulfilled by water-cooled chillers. They are not only cost-effective but easy to install with an extensive piping system.

Flexibility

Chiller companies in India offer various configurations of water chiller systems designed for different purposes and needs. With various compressor options, they can be installed indoors or outdoor. Select the ideal one from Refcon Chillers as per cooling capacity and efficiency requirements. Various companies offer customizable options to adapt to specific applications of the industry.

Modular Strategy – The modular design of the mechanical and control systems allows for a gradual build-up of the cooling infrastructure to match the cooling requirements of the building. This significantly reduces CAPEX expenditure and allows the investment to be spread over the life of the building or data center.

Simple and fast deployment – According to water-cooled chiller suppliers, the prefabricated data center modules are delivered ready to use at the desired location, significantly reducing installation time and costs.

Pre-engineered and Factory Assembled – Prefabricated Modules are designed and built to exact specifications in a controlled factory environment and utilize DCIM software, resulting in greater reliability and a more predictable data center operating.

Integrated Hydronics Package – Includes all components required to make one connection to the chiller, with no connections to auxiliary equipment such as pumps. This significantly increases the installation speed.
